Baby Sunblock
Everyone can get sunburned, but babies can get severely burnt after being out in the sun for only an hour or two. This is because babies are fresh, and have not spent much time outside during their short lives. If you want to protect your baby from sunburns and ultimately keep the baby healthy and cancer-free in the long run, I suggest using baby sunblock. Most normal sunblock lotions are not meant for use on young children, so I recommend buying brands such as Aveeno, Neutrogena, Loving Naturals and California Baby.
Neutrogena and California Baby are specifically designed as baby sunblocks. They are generally lower-SPF, but still high enough to protect your child. They are also thinner in general, as babies don’t perspire as well as full grown adults do. If you use normal sunblock on a young child they may not be able to sweat in hot weather, which restricts their ability to cool their bodies down. This is very unhealthy and can cause tantrums for young, hot children. This is one of the many reasons to use baby sunblock on your young child.
California Baby is one of my favorite brands of baby sunblock. It is fragrance free, and contains no chemicals. It comes in SPF 30+, and is in a small, .5oz travel bottle that’s very convenient and is easy to throw in a purse, diaper bag, etc. and have all the time. Many people don’t carry baby sunblock around all the time, so when the time comes to actually use it, they don’t have it! I suggest always having baby sunblock in your purse or bag. That way, you can easily access it and use it whenever necessary.
